We are your Queen's Council shadow day chairs and yesterday was our first shadow day of the year! Twenty-five eighth graders joined us for classes, great food from Chef Mark, and even ice cream making with the Women in Math and Science (WIMS) Club. Shadow days are a great way to get to know us. The next one is Tuesday, October 10. If you'd like to schedule a visit, login to your account on the admissions portal. See you soon!

The annual Notre Dame Day is coming up! ND Day is an opportunity for all Regal Gryphons to show their school pride while developing relationships with classmates, and showing people what NDA is all about! In preparation for ND Day, each class chooses a theme, which is usually an alliteration to their class name. For example, there have been Jump-In Juniors and Super Sophomores. This theme is the basis of each class' skit, decorations, banners, and costumes. ND Day also has an exciting volleyball game between the classes, and as a part of the Junior volleyball team, I am excited to say that Juniors will be winning this year's games! We are all anticipating the great things that come with ND Day!

Member of the basketball team, National Honor Society, Rocketry and Robotics, SP2, Interact, and Queen's Council Loves hip hop and Korean pop music. Favorite books: the Divergent series Fun Fact: Miranda is a MOTivating Teen Volunteer at the Museum of Tolerance This week, we had club displays during lunch to highlight the many organizations and activities here on campus. While there's something for everyone, I really like the science or technology options. First, we have Club Med for students interested in the medical field. Club Med features speakers, hospital visits, and CPR training. WIMS stands for Women in Math and Science. This year, the theme is the science behind food. The club does experiments and other activities based around the yearly theme. There is also Coding Club, where you learn how to code in different languages.
There are just as many club options for those interested in art, film, cooking, or creative writing. The possibilities are endless! Class of 2019

Member of Queen's Council, Student Forum, track and soccer teams Loves Bruno Mars and Drake Favorite movie: "Grease" and "Love and Basketball" Monday night's Admissions Info Night kicked off the beginning of the admissions season. More than 75 families came from different schools to learn about Notre Dame Academy's admissions process, curriculum and community. The night began with an informative presentation by admissions director Ms. Callaghan, and was followed by a question and answer session with our Queen's Council members. Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions and their answers:
What is it like at an all girls school? At all girls school, we celebrate everything about being a young woman. There is a sense of mutual respect, encouragement and validation. NDA is a campus where you see students and faculty living our motto: educating young women to make a difference. How was the transition between eighth grade and freshman year? The NDA community understands that the transition from middle school to high school can be difficult and will help this transition run smoothly. At the beginning and throughout the school year, teachers and students are ready to assist you with anything that you need from opening your locker, to finding your class, to selecting the tastiest meal from the cafe. NDA summer school classes for incoming freshman are a great way to get to know the campus and meet some of you classmates. What is the homework load like? Your homework load varies depending on the classes you take. The more rigorous the class, the greater the commitment and the more homework you can expect. The goal of homework is not to keep you busy but allow you to practice and apply what you have learned. What is block schedule? Block schedule occurs over two days, usually on a Thursday and Friday. This means we have three classes a day, each for an hour and twenty minutes. On block I days, there will be an enrichment period, or E period, for us to meet with our teachers, finish some homework and study. On block II days (always on Fridays), we are dismissed from school at 1 p.m. How do you interact with the upperclassmen? NDA has a big sister/little sister program in which a junior is paired with a freshman. Your big sister is available to help you with the ins and outs of high school life. Also, by participating in extra curricular activities such as sports teams, clubs and art classes provide you with a great opportunity to build relationships with the upperclassmen. Congratulations to our Regal Gryphon volleyball team who won their first home game against Louisville this past Tuesday! The Freshman, JV and Varsity teams dominated the court and demonstrated great sportsmanship against one of our biggest rivals. The school spirit and camaraderie filled the gym as each team participated in shagging balls, reffing games and cheering on their fellow Gryphons. The first home game of the season had a great turnout with many teachers, students and parents watching the game. The rest of the season looks bright for our Regal Gryphon volleyball team. I look forward to attending and supporting them in future home games!

Member of Queen's Council Favorite book: The Fault in our Stars Favorite TV show: "Gossip Girl" and "Gilmore Girls" Fun Fact: I moved here from Australia a year ago with my family, including two younger sisters With each new school year comes another Loyola football season. Loyola games are a great place to meet other students from around the city, as well as socialize with other girls from NDA. I still remember my first game and seeing how spirited everyone was—it's a perfect place to hang out on a Friday night and I would definitely recommend catching a few games!
