Looking back to my very first day of school at NDA, I remember it was very hectic. I was incredibly nervous to start a new school, despite the fact that some of my best friends from my old school were joining me. I’m almost certain that I didn’t sleep a wink the night before. I had my dress uniform laid out and my backpack packed.
The next morning, I woke up at six and got ready for my parents to drive me to the bus stop in Manhattan Beach. Just as we were pulling up to the stop, I realized that I hadn’t printed out my English assignment. My parents deliberated over whether they should just let me go to school and suffer for not printing the homework or take me home and let me print out the work. By the time that the light had turned green, we were zooming home. I printed out the assignment as quickly as I could and dove into the car. As we were weaving through traffic, my mom saw that another woman who had been taking the same route really knew her way around traffic. We tailed her all the way to the school, where she also dropped off another student. I made it to school with minutes to spare.
This year, I hope the drive to school will be much less stressful. As a junior, I’m planning on driving myself to school this year, so I’ll be sure to leave extra early for school and have all of my assignments packed into my backpack. I don’t want a repeat of freshman year!
