Summer is always a very exciting time for a student. I remember in elementary, we counted down to summer as a class. It meant class pool parties, end-of- year school fairs, movies, and so many more exciting things. Summers in high school are not so very different.
The term “summer” is still very exciting…it’s still the light at the end of the tunnel after hours of studying. It’s the freedom to sit on the couch all day, sleep in, and have movie marathons without looking at the clock. Maybe for some, your curfew is extended, or you’re going on a family vacation.
This year, summer was very eventful for me. As usual, it started off slow because I had a lot of sleep to catch up on. There’s was a lot of time spent hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, movie marathons, and reconnecting with my brother after his time away at college. While all of these things were very enjoyable, there were two things I enjoyed the most.
The first one, during my time at TACSC, I learned about servant leadership and helping others. I made new friends, some from NDA, and we helped incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders learn how to be leaders; spiritually and within their student councils.
The other exciting thing I did was go to Mexico for two weeks. While there, I reconnected with cousins I hadn’t seen since I was five and also got to travel a lot within Mexico. I went to four states, saw three different pyramids, and best of all, spent five days on the beautiful beaches of Acapulco! Although my trip felt much too short, I made the greatest memories and can’t wait to go again.
I sincerely hope that you enjoyed your summer as much as I did!
