Notre Dame Academy values the arts and provides the art community an opportunity to share it with the rest of the school through an annual assembly. At our most recent presentation last week, the art teacher, Ms. Beauvy, began by sharing a little bit about what the art classes here at NDA entail, and the importance of art in our society. As a member of the art community and a student of Ms. Beauvy's for three years, I personally love that our school gives us the opportunity to share our world with the other students. Many other schools don’t encourage the arts; sometimes they get overshadowed by sports or academics.
My favorite part of the arts assembly each year is getting to see my peers’ work. Each girl’s artwork is unique; they come from different backgrounds and styles. Some are more technically trained, and have masterful work in oil painting and still life. Other girls explore more conceptual art and digital design. Not only is it interesting to hear about another artist’s process, but its also inspiring. As I watch my peers present their work, I feel empowered and encouraged to continue creating. Its a wonderful experience to be able to share one of my passions with my peers and teachers that I don’t normally get to show off in class!
